LABS
Let’s Talk Lab Testing: Why COAs Aren’t Always the Whole Story
We recently ran a little (not-so-cheap) experiment. We took our latest batch of flavored 7-OH tablets and sent them to two-three different third-party labs for testing. While the total alkaloid content came back relatively consistent across the board, we saw significant variation in the individual alkaloids reported—some labs showed high quantities of additional alkaloids, others showed none at all.
Even more surprising? We've sent the same batch to the same lab, only to receive slightly different results each time. This is a perfect example of why lab reports—while incredibly useful—are not infallible.
Here’s what we want our community to know:
COAs Are a Tool—Not the Final Word
Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are incredibly useful for verifying that a product contains 7-OH and is free from major contaminants—but they shouldn’t be seen as a precise measurement of potency or purity.
Purity levels can vary between labs due to differences in testing equipment and methodology.
There is no standardized testing protocol for 7-OH, which often leads to inconsistent or conflicting results.
We’re committed to improving accuracy and reliability, but no lab test is perfect—especially for something as nuanced as 7-OH.
Perspective Matters: Testing vs. Experience
Like all tools, lab tests come with limitations. While COAs give helpful insight, they’re just one part of the bigger picture. We encourage customers to look at the full experience—not get caught up in minor fluctuations between test results.
Some users may prefer to avoid 7-OH altogether due to testing uncertainties, and we completely respect that. Others may recognize the flaws in current testing methods and choose to focus on how 7-OH makes them feel, physically and mentally.
Whatever your stance, we support informed decision-making.
Transparency First, Always
We will continue to test all of our batches and publish COAs as part of our commitment to transparency. In fact, we’ve started sending the same batches to multiple labs—and yes, we’ve received different results from each one (even different readings from the same lab on separate tests!).
This isn’t about discrediting science—it’s about showing our community that 7-OH testing is still evolving, and we’re doing our part to stay ahead of the curve while keeping you fully informed.
Final Thought
COAs are helpful tools—but they aren't absolute. There’s no black-and-white answer when it comes to 7-OH lab testing. The reality is: inconsistencies exist, and we believe it’s important you know that.
We’ll keep testing. Keep improving. And most importantly, keep communicating—so that you can continue making choices with confidence.
